Don't lock N-Gage games to IMEI, so users can buy new phones started

I am about to get a new Nokia phone, but I am delaying because the N-Gage games I've already purchased are locked to the IMEI on my existing phone. Create a systems a la iTunes where users can deactivate the IMEI of their old phone and activate the IMEI of their new phone. Happier users and more sales of games and new phones.

We are actively working on a solution and this will be rolled out in the near future

pirates pirat games, no matter what.
the pirates can install the games on every phone, and our, the legal users have to ask permission to use our own games on our new device

The imei it's a good idea for protect the games for piracy. More having the games the price they have

Yeah i'm hoping to updgrade by the end of this year to a newer version of my phone. But will be absolutely gutted if I lose my games.

We need this ASAP. AFAIK, they will do it if you get your phone replaced by the same model in repairs, like i did. Not if you get a new, different device.
    This has been suggested:
One account, one IMEI. Games locked on account. Only one IMEI per account at a time. Account transefrable in N-Gage.com to new phone IMEI.
That would be the perfect solution. Data can be backed up via PC Suite.

    absolutely.
the pirates gamers can transfer the games to a new phone, and those who paid can`t!!!

i would'nt bother wasting your votes here b/c you can already move your games to a new IMEI if you contact nokia support or admin's on N-gage.com until they announce a long term solution

This has not been fixed fully. Nokia has confirmed that they are working on a long term solution, in the mean time we have to go through customer care to get the games transferred.

It's good but no longer needed, you can now transfer your games to a new IMEI by contacting Nokia's customer services, and an automated system should appear later this year.

Nokia changed their policy because an article about this earlier in the year (cough All About N-Gage cough) was picked up by (amongst many others) the BBC News website. Nokia responded by promising to allow transfers.

I am quite sure Nokia promised to fix that - it was a very unpopular move to lock the games, and Nokia could see that. I think they imagined they would have to remove this, but they tried, sometimes customers swallow this kind of things.
